6.5 Women’s Own Resource Centre: WORC is moving to 105 Ottawa Ave, August 1 st. Brenda Scott presented a study and fact sheet on “Living Wage” and the economic impact on community development of low wages.
6.6 Ontario ’s Near North (ANTA): SarahJayne is continuing to work toward ‘Almaguin Highlands’ being printed on their maps. She presented catalogue of marketing opportunities 2007-08 and is starting visits around the area and there is more participation as businesses are becoming familiar with packages offered. New is the ‘last minute vacancies” sector and it is becoming very popular. Its intent is to help boost B & B and other accommodations throughout the sector. More people are also accessing the ‘events’ listing and requesting information. Ontario Out of doors subscription is very popular and many requests are coming in for their advertising page. Supertrax Magazine is a new co-op advertising opportunity. A list of the current magazines available for co-op advertising will be sent to members. “The average $1 circulates through the community 10 times”

6.8 Ryerson, Armour, Burk’s Falls Special Events Committee : Arena is set to open the end of the month with free all day events. Congratulations! Greg Boyce Days are upcoming. Ryerson annual yard sale is Sat. June 23 rd.
6.9 Almaguin Highlands Business After Hours (AHBAH ): Meeting will re-commence in September @ Ten Gables Golf Inn.
6.10 Municipality of Whitestone : Canada Day Celebrations will be June 30 th with a Country theme.
6.11 Powassan Economic Development Report: Andrew Busch not present
6.12 McMurrich/Monteith: “Sprucedale Summer Spectacular” is a country & bluegrass jamboree set for August 11 th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the community centre. Bands will include Tina Turley, Scotia Junction and many others raising funds to benefit seniors and recreation committees CAP project. There will be horseshoe tournament, games for kids and barbecue. Park to Park continues to evolve on the east side and they are receiving more interested parties all the time.

6.15 South Almaguin E. D. Committee: Canadore College and Land of Lakes Senior Public School will be offering welding program this fall.
6.16 Almaguin Highlands Ontario Inc.: Dave reports still active and doing well, Grand Opening of new business Cottage Day Spa at 36 Chaffey St. Suite 206 is July 7 th their Huntsville location. The move was necessary to be able to offer accommodation to their clients who wish to stay overnight. Google Mapping of the Sprucedale corridor through to Powassan is in now high resolution so you can check out your own backyard.
